DESTINATION DAYTONA UNVEILED LIFE-SIZE HARLEY-DAVIDSON® MOTORCYCLE ONE-OF-A-KIND ELVIS PRESLEY BRONZE SCULPTURE

World’s Largest Harley-Davidson® dealer, Bruce Rossmeyer & Sculptor Jeff Decker Hosted Exclusive During Bike Week

ORMOND BEACH, FL (February 28, 2009) – Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, home of the World’s largest Harley-Davidson® dealership hosted an open-to-the-public unveiling of the one-of-a-kind life size Harley-Davidson® “Elvis Presley on a Motorcycle” bronze sculpture, by world-renowned sculptor Jeff Decker, on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Destination Daytona is located at 1637 North U.S. Highway 1 in Ormond Beach, Florida.

“As part of the Harley-Davidson® family, we are proud to have Jeff Decker on board to commemorate this iconic relationship between the king of rock-n-roll, Elvis Presley, and Harley-Davidson®,” said Bruce Rossmeyer, CEO of 15 Harley-Davidson locations including the World’s Largest Harley-Davidson Dealership at Destination Daytona. “And we couldn’t think of a better place and time to showcase the tradition and heritage of this life-size sculpture than Daytona’s famed Bike Week.”

The life-size sculpture is an exact replica of Presley’s original 1956 Harley-Davidson® KHK motorcycle. As history was revealed, the KHK was Presley’s first major purchase with his new founded fame and earnings. To ensure an exact duplication, Decker worked with a live model atop a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle in the traditional lost wax casting process. With the addition of stainless steel accents, Decker was able to bring the sculpture to life and reveal the dynamic contrast in colors and textures in striking detail. To conclude the process, Decker then welded the Elvis statue atop the motorcycle to produce the overall sculpture that stands approximately 5 feet tall, spans 7 feet in diameter and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds.

Long before Decker became the exclusive officially licensed sculptor for Harley-Davidson® he sought to immortalize, in bronze, early American racing and rock-n-roll. Jeff Decker’s artistic ability far exceeds his mechanical talent, yet his works speak for themselves. What he calls a studio, most would refer to as a museum with a vast library and a small collection of motorcycles including two Crockers and a Cyclone.
